Zero G Cat Flight
Via Boing Boing, a Quicktime clip is linked to that shows a cat being tossed around in a zero gravity environment, (Update: Cat still being tossed, see below, movie mirrored here.) supposedly to demonstrate something about cockpit physics.
From the Boing Boing article:
The file is linked from an Air Force website for an online education class called “COCKPIT PHYSICS: Physics Instruction for the Twenty-First Century.” The website doesn’t appear to be a joke, nor does the cat-tossing QuickTime clip, presumably intended to illustrate the science that governs cruelty to fluffy innocent pets in reduced gravity environments.
Update Oct 25, 2004: Apparently someone at the Air Force thought torturing cats wasn’t cool. Or at least letting you see them do it isn’t cool. So they took the video down. Fortunately, someone mirrored it here.
