The Atlantic Online has a long article about the history and current activities of Bobby Fischer, considered one of the greatest chess players of all time. I had thought that he was basically missing, but as it turns out regularly appears on live radio in various parts of the world to rant against his perceived enemies.
Who knew? Bobby not only is running around, but has a girlfriend (of a sorts) and a child, though he sees them only about every two months or so, in the Phillipines.
The impression I got from the article was that he was always a bit unstable, with paranoid rantings that limited his ability to pursue chess on the world circuit. However, his recent September 11 remarks have put him over the edge in most peoples minds.
